Olympic inspirations

So it’s a week and a half since the first round of London 2012 came to an end (as in before we get the Paralympics start). As I reflect I am wondering how have you been inspired by those two weeks. Maybe it’s been Bolt and his incredible speed, Farah an his stamina. Maybe Jessica Ennis and her abilities across several sporting disciplines. How about Tom Daily and his ability to get in so many twists and turns an yet still be in position to make a tiny splash as he hits the water. For me having been a keen cyclist in the past this is where I found my inspiration, so many great cyclists and Bradley Wiggins is not by all accounts that much younger than me and so I find myself reflecting on all this man has achieved this year and asking myself, “if he can do it, could I, with a bit of effort maybe i could achieve sidies like that?”

Actually I know I can’t, but maybe I could get the bike out a bit more often!

Fear

Sitting in our informal communion last night and thinking about all that Christ did for us on the cross. It struck me how sometimes we get the opportunity to speak of our faith but fear gets the better of us and we find an excuse to bottle out of it. But what are we really afraid of? Ultimately if anyone had a right to be fearful it was Jesus in the sacrifice he made in the first place, but he went through with it, so what excuse do we have for not speaking of the good news of Jesus Christ when the opportunity is before us?

Then this morning we were looking together at Luke 10, Jesus sending out the 72. Jesus says to them “I am sending you out like lambs among wolves”. I suppose given that context you can begin to understand where that sense of fear may start to come from. But even though the idea of being a lamb among wolves may seem a bit scary we should perhaps think about Daniel with the lions, or Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, they stood for God and as a result faced things much worse than we are ever likely to, and God was with them.

What is our greatest fear in these situations? Is it the fear of human rejection or ridicule? What about the fear of disobedience to God?

Finally it’s here!!!

It is now several months since I announced that OnMeBus.net was coming to the end of it’s journey and at last that day has come, the OnMeBus blog is still running but as part of a new site revsimo.me.uk, the delay has been in waiting for this site to launch but now it is here, i wouldn’t say it’s complete i still have several things i want to add do but it’s a start. please say hi, let me know what you think and leave any comments or suggestions.

Thanks.

The end of an Era

Some may have already read my tweet/facebook that OnMeBus.net is soon to be decommissioned. I have not been keeping the blog up-to-date all that well although I have a new site I am working on that will include a blog that will have a slightly new focus due to my change in role. The name OnMeBus will continue as part of the new project, further info will be released soon, watch this space.
